Spring is an ideal time to explore the outdoors with our cameras. We are lucky to reside in a region where, at this time of the year, our backyard birds are joined by migrating ones and have world-renowned nature sanctuaries with rookeries and sites to observe and photograph nesting and beautiful migrating birds.
Our speaker, Alan Murphy, a passionate birder and award-winning photographer, will share his knowledge and expertise on how to capture breathtaking bird images. Alan will explain how to select the best background, choose the optimal shooting perspective, incorporate habitat into your photos, select the best image for processing, compose and crop your images, and add drama, action, and interest and more!

Growing up surrounded by the beautiful countryside of both Ireland and England, Alan developed a love for birds and nature at a young age. He was a quick study of birds, and upon immigrating to the United States in the early 1980s, Alan was thrilled to find many new species and their habitats and so began his hobby of bird photography.
What began as a peaceful and passionate hobby, Alan has refined into a photography business. Besides the numerous photographs he loves to acquire, Alan is equally enthusiastic about leading workshops and teaching other photographers how to capture the perfect image. He is an award-winning photographer with over 80 magazine covers to his credit, a Nikon Professional Service Member, a Wimberley Professional Service Member, and the author of several e-books and educational videos. He enjoys traveling the country, speaking at festivals and photo clubs. Alan and his wife, Kim, live in Evergreen, Colorado. They like to travel domestically and abroad, enjoy nature, and their rescue dogs.
Alan has a monthly newsletter in which he shares information about his workshops at domestic and international locations as well as gear information and techniques to capture stunning images like he does.
